Message From Matt Young, LAYHA Parent / Auctioneer:
Hello LAYHA Families,
I hope you are all having a great hockey season, ours has been wonderful. The annual LAYHA benefit auction has been in existence for over 20 years. This event is LAYHA's largest fundraiser and many people enjoy the event year after year. We are at a critical time for the future of our auction, and the affordability of our program, many of the families who have been doing lots of the work on the auction no longer have kids in youth hockey.
Last year (and in past years) our volunteer board members ended up doing a tremendous amount of the work involved with our auction. The board members do a lot for our program and dedicate a lot of time and effort to LAYHA and we offered to lead the work associated with the auction.
Please note that help on auction night is necessary and appreciated, but most of the work is done in advance. One idea to help keep the auction going, we invite all LAYHA families to solicit 3-5 items, the items should be in new and unused condition. Think outside the box, everyone knows someone who makes something, handmade items such as furniture, art, crafts and jewelry typically do well or email people and places from outside the area. Be creative and see what you can come up with for cool, creative items. Ask people you do business with, we will have a sign up sheet so we avoid asking the same business.
We will select a date for our event soon, usually a Saturday in April. The key to our event is solicitation of items.
We will meet tonight Monday February 12th at Lyndonville House of Pizza, 5pm. The meeting will last about an hour where we will choose committees and responsibilities. All are welcome!!!
Thank you for supporting Lyndon Area Youth Hockey.
